'Dead Space' Reboot's Alien Slicing Weaponry Is More Detailed Than Ever Before

Bloody disgusting, in the best of ways

Dead Space, in a nutshell, has always been on the gorier side of things, don't you think? When the originals appeared in shops I remember looking horrified at the picture of a floating hand in space, instantly intimidated by the potential contents of the game. Years later with the reboot, gore and body horror is just as important and developers at Motive Studio are incredibly excited to show you how you'll be able to dismember and slice up the enemies in your path.

Spotted by PC Gamer, Motive Studio took to Twitch on August 31st to show off a very early look at what the team has been working on. The game is by no means ready but it was a good opportunity to show fans a little of what they can look forward to including the new splicing system which encourages players to be as precise with their weapons as possible.

Here is the reveal trailer for the new Dead Space...

The livestream, which you can find here, has devs show us some of the "body destruction technology". The team is currently working on making all of the weapons you own have their own different reactions from the monsters you encounter. So although there may be guns that do a better job of slicing cleanly through a limb, the ones that are messier or less powerful will peel or burn flesh off first, exposing bone which you can then hit to remove or immobilise that part of the body. It's gory and that's exactly what Motive Studio is taking pleasure in.

As we said, Dead Space is nowhere near ready yet but it certainly is nice for fans to see some of what they can look forward to early. It might put some of those who have doubts about the series returning at ease to witness the developers relishing the opportunity to talk about the gorier details of the game so passionately. With no official release date yet it's likely the earliest Dead Space could release is towards the end of next year or in 2023.
