Is anyone else completely drowning in their backlog right now? We’re just getting too many incredible game releases this year, it’s impossible to play them all.

Solely within the last couple of weeks, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have graced our screens, and the latter alone provides enough content to keep anyone busy for the remainder of the year. Not only that, but the additions to the various gaming subscription services like PlayStation Plus continue to be fantastic, making it tempting to indulge in slightly older releases such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Seriously, the Extra-tier PS Plus additions this month are so good that some believe that the service could be even better than Xbox Game Pass now.

Earlier this year, PS Plus Extra also got the delightful day one release of Tchia - take a look below.

Well, if somehow none of that was enough for you, as DSOGaming reports, one of this year’s greatest releases is currently free to try out on Steam, although it’s not one for the faint of heart. I’m of course talking about the new-gen remake of Dead Space, which first came out back in January.

PC gamers have between now and 29 May to give 90 minutes of Dead Space a go. Given that the main story is about 12 hours long, that obviously won’t be enough time to get close to finishing it. In fact, that’s not even long enough to speedrun it - the current world record is about one hour and 44 minutes, making the trial time about 15 minutes too short. However, it’s certainly a very reasonable amount of time to begin Isaac Clarke’s chilling adventure on the USG Ishimura, and ultimately determine whether you want to play the whole thing or not.

Personally, I don’t need a trial to know that I couldn’t handle the sleepless nights that I’d be in for, but if you missed out on this brilliant survival horror game at the start of the year, now’s the perfect time to give it a go.
