We love Skyrim to bits

As much as we love The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, there are many ways to improve on this beloved fantasy RPG and many of those improvements are provided by the talented modding community.

Originally released in 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, before being ported onto systems for every console generation since, Bethesda knew that it had a hit on its hands with Skyrim the moment it launched. Which is why we’ve seen so many re-releases.

Don’t get me wrong, Skyrim still has those “Bethesda bugs” to this day but it's hard to argue against the statement of this RPG being one of the best that its genre has to offer.

What’s more, the ever-vibrant modding community continues to breathe new life into the game whether it's graphic and performance improvements, new content, bug fixes and much more.

Very few video games in existence have been supported to the level of this particular The Elder Scrolls entry by modders. However, the mod that is the topic of today’s discussion is one that fans of Dead Space might appreciate.

Created by Seb263, the mod in question is called ‘Dismembering Framework’ and it’s free to download now via Nexusmods. It must be noted that despite being over a decade old game, this Skyrim mod is so seemingly gory, that you will need an adult Nexusmods account to access it.

Unlike Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, Skyrim has no dismemberment mechanics, though it does have some tame gore. Furthermore, the ‘Dismembering Framework’ not only ups the Skyrim gore in real-time but it has also enhanced the sound effects which can change depending on the armour your unfortunate victim of Tamriel is wearing.

Sadly, it does seem that the ‘Dismembering Framework’ mod is only compatible with the PC version of the game. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
