'GTA 5' Next-Gen Port Release Date Seemingly Leaks Online

This will be the third time the game has been released.

Although the PlayStation 2 saw three separate GTA games, Grand Theft Auto V will somehow be relevant long enough to get delivered onto three separate generations of PlayStation. Just like Bethesda's Skyrim, GTA 5 has been around so long it's been adapted to almost every console under the sun - and its next-gen port might have just had its release date leaked.

There's been a list of games floating around, according to PSU, that 'reveals' several release schedules for both next-gen ports and even unannounced titles. At first, not many people gave the list any credibility as it seemed far-fetched, but with the news that Insomniac / Sony had registered the trademark for Sunset Overdrive suddenly the list seems possible.

While players have been waiting for more GTA content, they've been making their own fun - like this mod bringing Homelander from The Boys into the game for maximum destruction:

This list details next-gen upgrades for Dreams, release schedules for Stray, a revisit to Sonic Colors, a new game based on Netflix's new family-friendly film, The Mitchells vs The Machines: Overcharged, and importantly Grand Theft Auto 5 coming to PlayStation 5 in October 2021. And yeah, this seems like a likely story even without the leak. As PSU comments, Rockstar likes releasing content towards Q4 and it definitely puts it in a good place for end-of-year festivities like Christmas. A late 2021 release would also hopefully allow for more people to get their hands on PlayStation 5s and Xbox Series Xs.

Other games mentioned on the list include Project Cars 3, Back 4 Blood, Sunset Overdrive Refreshed Edition, Symphogear Unite, and Sunset Apocalypse. Of course, this is literally just a random list on the internet that we're looking at. Though we can look at it and think that these releases are certainly possible that doesn't make them real. Maybe some of these titles will be revealed at E3 in June - it would be nice to have confirmation on the future of GTA and Sunset Overdrive especially after all these rumours.
