One of 2020's best games is completely free for a very limited time

One of the best video games of 2020 is completely free to download and keep right now, but by gawd you'll have to be quick to snap it up.

2020 was a heck of a year for video games. It helped that most of us had nothing else to do, of course, but the likes of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Ghost Of Tsushima, and The Last Of Us Part II all dominated. Of course, this means some other, smaller bangers got lost in the mix.

If Mortal Shell passed you by, you really missed out. Developed by Cold Symmetry, it was yet another action-adventure RPG that borrowed heavily from Dark Souls. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you. If you're gonna borrow, borrow from the best!

Anyway, Mortal Shell got great reviews, won over plenty of players, and generally went down smooth. The good news is that if you're looking to scratch that Dark Souls itch, Mortal Shell is currently 100% off on the Epic Game Store.

This massive freebie is part of Epic's ongoing Christmas promotion - one free game a day. The upshot of this is that you don't have very long to claim Mortal Shell at its current prince of zero before it's replaced by the next game. In fact, there's a chance it's already too late as you read these words. The offer ends today (December 29) at 4pm UK time, so get a wiggle on.

And if you are reading this after 4pm on December 29? Well, I'm sorry. And I hope you enjoyed a lovely holiday season. Maybe you'll catch Epic's next free game.
