Scary, scary skeletons

Everyone loves something for nothing, especially if it's DLC for one of the year's best Steam games. Moonstone Island will get a bunch of free items 27 October to celebrate spooky season in style.

A tweet came from Moonstone Island developers saying that "This Friday we're launching our Halloween DLC, but everyone will also be getting these FREE decor items! FREEEE!"

Moonstone Island is a delightful wholesome and cosy game often compared to Stardew Valley

That's right, the Halloween DLC will be free for all players and the pack contains several items to make your game feel appropriately spooky just in time for Halloween. The free items are as follows:

  • Haunted House
  • Iron bat archway
  • Gravestone
  • Tongue rug
  • Teeny tiny skull
  • Two skellies ("their names are Marigold and Crunchboi, and yes, I named them myself.")

Players are pretty excited that they're getting lots of items for free. The replies to the Twitter announcement range from excitement to compliments on the game and people desperately wanting the Switch launch to get here sooner - it's only available on PC currently.

Moonstone Island has received a lot of love from players since its launch and also has a critics enjoying the "A rich tapestry of pixel-art locations, endless exploration for curious gamers, and hearty doses of adventuring and farming."

Moonstone Island is a creature collecting life sim with over 100 islands to explore. It appeals to long-time Pokemon fans and anyone who loves a wholesome life sim, due to the crafting options and cute top-down, pixel graphics.

The game currently has a score of 81 over on Metacritic and a Very Positive rating on Steam, meaning it's a big hit with players. The pixel graphics are super clean and the world feels all comfy and lived in. It's an ideal game for this time of year when the nights are drawing in and you just want to snuggle down with a a cosy game.
