God Of War Ragnarök free download available now for limited time

Boy! You'd better grab this freebie

The God of War series is one of the biggest successes in PlayStation history, so a Kratos-sized freebie is perhaps an apt way to join Sony's celebration for 15 years of PlayStation Plus.

The bestselling sequel, God of War Ragnarök, is a headliner in the PlayStation Plus catalogue, as part of the Extra tier, and you can start your journey today.

Available as part of the subscription for a limited time, players can venture out into the dangerous wilds as father and son in God of War Ragnarök; limited time because all Extra tier additions depart eventually, and this one's nearing the dangerous six-month mark.

For a long time, the original game in the rebooted series has been a firm favourite among players, and the sequel only stepped up the drama and the action.

In this adventure, Kratos and his son, Atreus, must seek answers and stop Ragnarök, while travelling through the Nine Realms, working out who they can trust.

Not only is this a superb action game, with plenty of chaotic and bombastic moments, utilising the Leviathan Axe or the Blades of Chaos, but it’s a touching and emotional story, too.

One moment you’re killing vicious trolls as they blunder through the wilds, causing Kratos to protect his son via vengeful anger; the next moment, you’re watching as the gruff Greek looks longingly at his son, seeing the love and innocence in the boy.

God of War, in this new form, touches on some very important and emotional topics, but its main focal point is grief and how even the most powerful beings can be brought to their knees after losing someone special.

If you’ve been wanting to play this one for a while, you’ve got the chance to grab it from the game catalogue as part of your PlayStation Plus Extra subscription.

Give it a whirl, and celebrate alongside Sony as they roll out a month of PlayStation Plus goodies.
