Forgotten Star Wars Game Gets Promising Development Update

Good news, at last!

Finally, Star Wars fans have a reason to celebrate over a game that you’ve probably forgotten about, just like we had.

The Star Wars franchise is one of the biggest in all forms of entertainment, whether it’s video games, movies, comic books, merchandise and much more. There’s pretty much no getting away from the galaxy, far, far away.

That being said, it’s not always been sunshine and roses for Star Wars fans, especially when it comes to the most recent batch of movies, dubbed the “prequel trilogy”. I’d like to say we’d forget about them, like we did the game that is the topic of today's story, but I won’t hold my breath.

The forgotten Star Wars game in question is being developed by Quantic Dream, the same studio that brought us the likes of Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human. It’s called Star Wars: Eclipse, set during the High Republic era.

Speaking of Quantic Dream, they’ve just announced a new free-to-play multiplayer game.

Star Wars: Eclipse was announced in December 2021 by Quantic Dream CEO David Cage. Since that time, we’ve practically heard nothing else about the game, at least officially. However, it is rumoured to be inspired by The Last of Us and is reportedly delayed until 2027.

Thankfully, we have good news in relation to Star Wars: Eclipse, because in a statement related to Quantic Dreams’ new multiplayer game, it’s reconfirmed that Star Wars: Eclipse is still in development. So, fear not, it’s not been cancelled (yet).

“Of course, development of Star Wars: Eclipse continues, and we are eager to share more with you in the future,” said David Cage in a statement, shared by Twitter user Wario64.

That being said, not everyone is delighted with the recent update for Star Wars: Eclipse.

“‘Star Wars: Eclipse development still continues’, 100 years later,” joked lucaslu_ckli in response.

“Star Wars: Eclipse was announced like four years ago, and we’ve had zero information or updates,” declared Chrismobuckeye.

“I came from the future. The game is DOA,” revealed the time-travelling AttackOnWaifu.

There’s not much else to go on, other than the mention from David Cage. But if the rumours are true that Star Wars: Eclipse won't be released until 2027, hopefully, we’ll get a proper release date and see some gameplay next year. Fingers crossed.

It’s probably also safe to assume that Star Wars: Eclipse will be a next-gen title at this point.
