Fantastic Four: Emma Stone was close to being cast as Sue Storm, says insider

According to behind-the-scenes reports, Emma Stone was approached by Marvel to star as Sue Storm, AKA, Invisible Woman, in the upcoming MCU film, Fantastic Four.

Fans have been patiently waiting for new information on Fantastic Four, an upcoming addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s roster of superheroes. Disney acquired the rights to use the characters when it bought 21st Century Fox in 2019, and it was later announced that Marvel’s first family would be joining the MCU with their own movie in 2025.

Since then, fans have been driving themselves wild trying to figure out who will be playing the four iconic heroes, Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing. Several rumours have been going around about who will be playing the characters, with Adam Driver supposedly playing Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic, and Margot Robbie as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman, though these aren’t confirmed.

Coming to Disney+ soon is the new Marvel series Secret Invasion - take a look below.

However, a recently shared rumour has suggested that Academy Award winner Emma Stone was originally approached by Marvel to play Sue Storm. It’s said that negotiations were going well but ultimately fell apart due to a disagreement over the pay the actress would receive. This should be taken with a grain of salt as it is unconfirmed, but could be an indication of the type of actress Marvel is/was looking for.

Whilst their official debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is yet to come, it won’t be the first time the Fantastic Four have appeared, as a variant of Mr Fantastic, played by John Krasinski, showed up as a member of The Illuminati in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Susan Storm was also referenced in a line of dialogue from Krasinski’s variant of the character before he gruesomely perished at the hands of the Scarlet Witch.

It’s unclear when Marvel plans to unveil the Fantastic Four in all of their glory, but when it happens, it’ll likely break the internet (and probably upset a few people).
