Marvel's biggest MCU villain being cast as iconic DC hero, says insider

From zero to hero

A redemption arc, of sorts, could be on the cards for one of the MCU’s biggest villains.

Being typecast as a specific hero or villain is a thing of the past for these actors, for they can go straight from Marvel into the arms of DC.

One such star may be doing just that as they leave behind their MCU days for new ventures in the DC universe.

Reports that Thanos actor Josh Brolin has been offered an iconic hero role at DC have started to circulate, courtesy of industry insider Jeff Sneider.

Purportedly, Brolin could be donning a costume of green to play Hal Jordan, aka one of the Green Lanterns.

It’s a surprise choice, for sure.

While no one doubts Brolin’s acting capabilities, Hal Jordan is typically portrayed as a young character.

However, the thought process behind this creative decision, if proven to be true, is that Brolin’s Jordan will be quite gruff and in his ‘I’m too old for this’ phase as a hero.

Director James Gunn has been keen to spice things up in the DCU, so maybe this is how Gunn intends to do just that.

Although the role was offered to Brolin on 30 August, as per the rumours, there hasn’t been any confirmation that they’ve responded.

Potentially exciting changes are on the horizon; though, as always, this insider scoop should be viewed with cautious optimism lest you feel disappointed if it’s proven to be false.

Changes in casting are also a-go for the MCU as fans come together over the ideal casting choice for Cyclops.

There are also whispers that a Marvel project many feared had been cancelled is in fact live and well.

Despite 2024 being a quieter year for Marvel, at least as far as releases are concerned, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes.

It would seem that’s true of DC as well, though its keeping its secrets and big reveals closer to the chest.
