Marvel fans unite over perfect MCU Cyclops casting

Marvel fans unite over perfect MCU Cyclops casting

It'll never top James Marsden though...

The X-Men are officially joining the MCU’s long list of superhero teams one day, so naturally fans are theorising which actors could play the mutants on the big-screen, starting with Cyclops.

As the leader of the X-Men, at least when Charles Xavier isn’t around, Scott Summers AKA Cyclops is one of the most powerful members of the team when the writers know how to write him, see X-Men ‘97 to know what I mean…

If you haven’t watched X-Men ‘97 I’d highly recommend it, as it’s possibly the best piece of X-Men media we’ve ever had

With his appearance in the MCU imminent fans think they’ve already found the perfect actor to bring him to life, though unfortunately it’s not James Marsden.

A few Reddit threads have been made on who could put on the red visor next, and while plenty of great choices have been thrown around like Glenn Powell, David Corenswt, and even Paul Mescal, a name that regularly popped up was Patrick Schwarzenegger.

In fact there’s an entire thread dedicated to Schwarzenegger as the best choice, with several fans supporting the casting.

“He was good in Gen V, which became very X-men, very quickly” said one fan, and “He got the looks for sure” added another.

Someone even pointed out how funny it would be if the MCU take on the X-Men did a storyline with Cable arriving from the future, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

For those who don’t know Cable is a cyborg, who’s real name is Nathan Summers, Cyclops’ son, so it’d be funny to see Schwarzenegger's play that kind of relationship on the big-screen.

Of course we have no idea who’ll actually be playing the X-Men in the MCU, and given how the first official live-action project is probably years away, it’ll be a while before we find out.

James Marsden will always have my heart as the character though, even if the writing let him down in the Fox films.
