Fallout meets BioShock in open-world game you need on your radar

Life on the open seas is calling

Survival games, over the past few years, have had a bit of a renaissance, with several massive titles releasing and sweeping up fans of the genre.

I’m partial to the odd survival game - there’s something incredibly satisfying about scavenging for items and crafting the gear you need to live another day, and with this early access Steam title, it looks like we’ve got another winner.

Sunkenland looks to be another stellar survival game

Sunkenland seems to be taking a leak out of the book of Raft, another survival game set on the high seas.

However, with a post-apocalyptic feel as the world is flooded, there’s a hint of Fallout there too.

Much like the previously mentioned Raft, you’ll be surviving while you construct a floating base of operations, combing the waves for helpful items and materials.

Where Sunkenland differs is in the ruins that are found below the tide, the once populated cities and towns that are left crumbling, submerged in the depths.

Now, we’re getting some major BioShock vibes, as we delve through a sunken civilisation who once thrived and now lay at the bottom of the ocean.

The game has been in early access since August 2023, with plenty of updates steadily making their way to players.

It’s no wonder the game is proving popular, with pirates and clans ambushing your base, vast underwater ruins to explore, and all the usual hallmarks of the genre refined to high standards.

Sunkenland can even be played in co-op if you don’t want to face the dangers of the world alone, and together you can hunt sharks, craft weapons, and live life on the sea.

There’s no date noted on the Steam page for the game’s full release, however, there seems to be a wealth of things to keep you busy for months to come.

If you’re a fan of the genre, this has to be on your radar.
