I’ll freely admit that when Fallout 76 first came out, I was incredibly disappointed, but over the last couple of years, Bethesda has gone all out on improving the experience and adding things to tempt me, and other players back to the wasteland.

A new expansion, which is out right now, and available for free, will finally bring a much requested feature to the Fallout universe - fishing.

Yeah, I know, you’ll probably end up reeling in one of those three-eyed fish from The Simpsons, but it’s still going to be a great way to spend your time.

The update, called ‘Gone Fission’ (which is perhaps the best update name I’ve ever heard) will allow players to fish “anywhere you can swim.”

Bethesda has put out a full list of patch notes for the update on Twitter, and it sounds like this will be enough to tempt back a few lapsed players.

Included in the patch, you can expect plenty of fishing over in The Mire, a perfect area to cast your rod.

Every month there will be a new axolotl to catch, with them appearing in two zones within Appalachia.

Local legends will rate your catches back at C.A.M.P. and I assume you’ll be able to sell any prized fish for a decent amount of caps.

A brand-new questline will introduce three new characters, “The disoriented Captain Raymond Clark, a mysterious new figure who goes by the name The Fisherman, and Linda-Lee, the Fisherman’s adorable pet hermit crab.”

With this being an RPG, your fishing rod will allow for upgrades and customisation, luring in bigger and better fish, though I’m scared to know how the radiation will have impacted the aquatic life.

With new daily quests and lots to unlock, the new update will provide plenty of adventure, for free.
