Fallout 4 Gets Xbox Update, Changes Game for Modders

Finally some good news

Fallout 4 players have been in the wars recently. And as all Fallout fans know, war never changes.

What was supposed to be a celebration of 10 years turned to ruin when Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition decimated the modding scene by making a variety of mods unplayable.

This had bigger implications as it led to playthroughs of over 1,000 hours being obliterated unless you reverted to the previous version of Fallout 4, which I should add you can only do on PC. If you’re on Xbox or PlayStation and update to the new version you’re stuck with it.

Xbox fans in particular have been hit hard by this, but Bethesda has been making efforts to correct its mistake with a new update distributing hotfixes and increasing how many mods can be active at a given time.

Bethesda said: “We’re actively investigating issues you’re encountering with the latest Fallout 4 update and Anniversary Edition launch. You should now see faster load times of the Creations menu, game menu, and redemption of Creation Club items.”

The studio went on to say a new hotfix coming out next week will aim to fix stability issues on console versions of the game, fix an issue that causes Creation Club content to stop working when it’s related to DLC expansions, and a weird issue that uninstalled players’s DLC expansions when updating their game.

For Xbox Series X/S players in particular though Bethesda said “players will see Creations local storage limit increased substantially. Growable up to 100GB to match your needs.”

This is a huge improvement over the previous 2GB limit, and something the playerbase is absolutely thrilled with, saying as much in a Reddit thread discussing the incoming fixes.

“My jaw is dropped THAT IS HUGE”, said one player, with another replying, “Yeah for sure. People can literally start making the perfect load order with that much space and STILL not have to worry about space."

Another player said “Thank GOD. As someone who has had to deal with 2gb for the past 9 years. The limit is the most infuriating shit about modding on consoles.”

Bethesda has confirmed that the same update is being considered for PlayStation users, but nothing is set in stone just yet.

There’s still a lot to do with Fallout 4 in the wake of the Anniversary Edition update, but it’s nice to see Bethesda is still committed to improving its playerbase’s gameplay experience on a game over 10 years old.
