Fallout 4 has been out for a little over ten years now, and we've explored basically everything the Commonwealth has to offer across millions of playthroughs, many of which will have played out differently.
Though Bethesda Entertainment did recently release a controversial Anniversary Edition of the game a couple of months back, all that really did was add a bunch of Creation Club content, with some new quests to complete and cool loot to collect.
As such, we always have to return to the ever-reliable modding community for the game, which consistently delivers new ways to play, whether that be by adding new content, or mucking around with the game's systems.
It's the latter that brings us here today, as a new mod erases one of the game's most fundamental systems, in favour of what many would argue is a more true roleplaying experience.
New Mod Gets Rid of Levelling Up in Fallout 4

Now this mod may prove to be a pretty controversial pick with some of you, but it's actually quite a cool idea when you think about its implementation. Level Cap Alternative essentially raises the amount of experience you need to get to the next level to a ridiculous degree.
This means you can no longer level up once you enter the game. That approach means you can either set up your character exactly as you wish before heading out into the world, via console commands, or you're locked at the basic level without being able to get any stronger.
The former allows you to construct the exact character you want straight away, which means you can take into account any former training your RP character may have had before heading into the vault.
Or you can play as the weakest character of all time and work to see how far you can get across the Boston wastes without dying. Either way you're in for a pretty fun time, and a vastly different experience to anything you have had before.
It's an exciting time to be a Fallout fan more generally, with the second season of the Prime Video show set to debut onto the streaming service on 17 December, with an episode releasing each week after that.
Think of the above as a great way to get in the mood for that, even if dying all the time to radroaches makes you want to bang your head against the keyboard.
