PlayStation Plus subscribers praise one of the best games in a long time that you can play right now at no extra cost.
Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription is stacked full of fantastic games to play from first-party big-hitters, AAA delights, indie darlings and retro classics of yesteryear. You even get a ton of free DLC and regular discounts.
However, you may even discover a game that you never knew existed or even thought about all that much. Then, that game could become a surprise gem that makes you wonder where it’s been this whole time.
One such game could be Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which was released in September 2024 and is developed by Saber Interactive.
Have You Checked out Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2?
“Space Marine 2 is the best game on the service in a LONG time,” declared Redditor DeepWebHorror. “This is one of those modern throwbacks to the fun, gritty, violent action games most of us grew up with on the Xbox 360, and the new PSSR 2.0 update really makes it pop on a big screen.”

Fellow Gamers on the Reddit Thread Agree, Well, Some
“This game is MASSIVE, I played on PC at launch, but now I’m sticking to co-op play, which will be fun,” replied mizrael64.
“I remember this game got well acclaimed from the 40k community,” recalled longbrodmann.
“Wait, it's on PlayStation Plus? Holy s***,” exclaimed Z3M0G.
However, Not Everyone Is Feeling Love for Space Marine 2
“I’m not impressed, and I couldn't get into it,” said AlphonseM.
“It’s a boring game with repetitive scenes and a silly story,” declared maurinator2022.
On the aggregate website Metacritic, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has a very respectable score from critics and users alike, earning 82 and 8.0, respectively. This should give some solid indication that overall, the community agrees that it’s a very good game and is worth checking out.
It’s also a solid alternative to Microsoft’s Gears of War series, which was seemingly inspired by the Warhammer franchise. Speaking of Gears of War, its remaster launched on PlayStation 5 last year, which is quite wild for one of Xbox’s biggest first-party titles. That’s still not quite sunk in.
Warhammer 40,0000: Space Marine is out on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. If you don’t subscribe to PS Plus, you might be pleased to know that this game is often discounted in sales.
