PlayStation users are still reeling from the news that PlayStation Plus is getting another price-hike, but they’re at least getting a free game out of it.
Earlier this week, PlayStation announced that the price of PlayStation Plus Essential was going up for new subscribers.
While existing subscribers will be unaffected so long as they don’t change their current plan, it still felt insulting as Essential is a tier you need to subscribe to if you want to play multiplayer games. In the big 2026 online play still isn’t free on consoles.
The outrage isn’t going away anytime soon and it’s now taking the form of sarcastic posts praising what PlayStation Plus actually offers for its inflated price.
As we all know, PlayStation Plus will suck in a variety of games every month and distribute them as freebies for current subscribers.

However, your subscription will also provide you with discounts that sometimes reduce the cost of a game all the way down to zero, which is what we’re talking about today.
Reddit user Just-a-Sadboi made a post mocking the recent price hikes, which read: “Stop complaining about the price increase, guys. We got Woodles Tree Adventures Deluxe for free this month ok?”
Woodles Tree Adventures Deluxe is described as an “old school platform game with a catchy and unique art style,” blending elements from the 3D platformers you’ll have probably grown up playing.
It usually costs $4.99/£3.69 but with your PlayStation Plus subscription, it’s on sale for nothing.
We think the game actually looks quite cute. It’s got a charming vibe to it and while we’re yet to play it ourselves, it looks like it’s at least worth a go, especially why it’s free.
However, PlayStation fans quickly joined in on the joke the post was making, but it’s poking more fun at PlayStation itself than poor Woodles Tree Adventures Deluxe.
The top comment joked the game could be “on par with My Friend Peppa Pig as one of the best Plus games ever.” Someone else replied, “GOTY discourse is going to be wild this year.”
Another comment jested: “Dude, no way wasn’t this nominated for GOTY next to Astro Bot and God of War??? I'm buying this rn.”
It turns out some of these commenters actually have played the game and it’s apparently not very good…
PlayStation has been making a series of bad decisions lately from its PlayStation Plus price-hike to no more games being ported to PC.
Perhaps it’ll win back favour with its recently announced State of Play showcase scheduled for 2 June. Marvel’s The Wolverine is going to get another look but we’re more excited about the potential reveal trailer for Hogwarts Legacy 2.
