South of the Sea is a mod so big for Fallout 4 it's like a whole new expansion

Out of all the titles released under the Bethesda umbrella, there’s little doubt that the Fallout series helped to put the publisher on the map in the video game industry along with the likes of The Elder Scrolls, of course.

Whether it be in the RPG, action-adventure or shooter genre, one of the main reasons that Bethesda titles have been able to thrive over the years is down to its fantastically dedicated modding community and at the forefront of its fanbase is the Fallout series.

We might be waiting a very long time until Fallout 5 arrives, despite Bethesda confirming its existence. That being said, it’s unlikely to arrive until after The Elder Scrolls VI, thankfully, the ever-expanding Bethesda modding community has more than enough content to keep us busy.

Created by a team of modders, ‘Fallout 4: South of the Sea - Atoms Storm’ is a mod so big that it’s basically a whole new expansion and best of all, you can play it for free via Nexusmods right now.

“A tribute to the classic mod from 'Baerthe', 'Cryptdic'k, 'Wanaming0', and 'Carnagefiend', ‘South of the Sea’. Known for enhancing the Glowing Sea and surrounding areas, ‘South of the Sea’ left a legacy in the modding community calling for the brave to pick up the mantle and resume development,” reads the description of the mod.

“The technical issues have been addressed. The stories and quests have been expanded. The world locations and interior maps have been redrawn to fit the story of the Fanatics of Atom, the Swamp Folk, and the flaming demon creatures. With the help of the whole community, this mod is now possible. I present to you the latest chapter ‘South of the Sea: Atoms Storm’.”

Sadly, this incredible Fallout 4 mod is only available for PC at the time of writing. However, Fallout 4 is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. What’s more, it’s also included in Xbox Game Pass as well as PS Plus Extra and Premium.
