Fall Guys reveals new level creator, and it looks like so much fun

Fall Guys has revealed its new level creator, and it looks like so much fun.

Released on PC and PlayStation 4 in August 2020, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was an overnight success with its Takeshi’s Castle inspired battle royale antics.

Players would take on a series of obstacle courses against others across the world and the last surviving ‘Bean’ would be crowned the victor. However, as with many battle royale games, it’s a tough genre to compete in. So when the game cut short the 'Ultimate Knockout' part of its name and went free-to-play with added crossplay in June 2022, it welcomed a new legion of fans across PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

Take a look at some of our favourite Fall Guys epic fails.

However, according to SteamDB, Fall Guys currently averages around 1,500 to 2,400 concurrent players on the PC platform which certainly isn't a great number, especially when put alongside its all-time peak of 172,213. So, with the imminent arrival of its level editor in Season Four ‘Creative Construction’, the developers at Mediatonic hope that the fun battle royale will have another surge in concurrent players across the board.

As reported by VGC, Mediatonic creative director Joe Walsh expressed his excitement in giving the Fall Guys community creative tools to express themselves like never before. “It’s been the single biggest change that we’ve made to the game and it’s really exciting to finally give players the keys to the kingdom basically,” said Walsh. Walsh also explained that the developers will be using the creative tools, meaning that even more levels are going to be released on a regular basis, as well as reported issues being fixed on the fly.

“From now on, the dev team at Mediatonic are going to be using the creative tools to build levels for the game exclusively,” he added. “That means that we can launch more content than we ever have before. With the launch of Season Four, we’re going to be dropping over 50 rounds throughout the course of the season which is way more than we’ve ever managed before."

“Another thing that is also really helpful is that for the first time, we can start tweaking the levels over the air, so we won’t need to push new updates live to fix bugs, which is a big problem we’ve always had with the game. So all of these things are just going to make the content so much richer and so much more varied from this point forward.”

However, players won’t just be able to create new levels and publish them straight away. First, it must be approved by Mediatonic to ensure that the levels work and once approved, a share code will be provided which can be distributed to other players. Mediatonic will also curate the best maps to be included in the Round's weekly sideshow events.
