If you’re a Fall Guys fan or, as is sadly the case for many of us these days, were previously a Fall Guys fan, you’re going to want to lock in.

Several of the game’s former developers have banded together to form a new studio by the name of Panic Stations, and it’s just revealed it’s first game at Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition.

Fair to say, Fall Guys has been on a downward spiral for a number of years.

In those early days, I’d play it every single day but it eventually lost its spark. Whether that was down to its shift to free-to-play or its acquisition by Epic Games is up for debate.

We need mourn no longer though, as Frog Sqwad is on the way in 2026.

Frog Sqwad is described as a “slapstick, physics-based multiplayer game in which you storm the sewers in the name of the Swamp King with up to seven of your froggy friends”.

Essentially, you’ll have to overcome the physics-based obstacles the sewers throw at you as you attempt to gobble as much food as possible for the Swamp King.

The catch is that you increase in size as you do so, so you may need to regurgitate some back up depending on the obstacles in your way.

Players can use their tongues to swing from pipes or launch their friends.

With sewers being procedurally generated, there’s an ever-changing series of hazards and opportunities for you to encounter.

“The Swamp King's hunger is never-ending, and his demands will be greater with each passing day,” added a press release.

“Spend your well-earned gold from successful runs on new physics toys and gadgets to give you an edge on future runs. Just make sure to meet your quotas, or before long, you might end up as the King's next meal.”

For more information on Panic Stations, Steve Taylor, Dan Hoang, Joe Walsh, Oliver Hindle, Paul Croft, and Josh Tarrant are its founding members.

You might recognise Walsh as the brain behind Fall Guys, with Hindle well known for managing the game’s social media and community efforts.

Hoang was behind Fall Guys’ original visual direction, so Frog Sqwad has a strong team behind it.

Launching in 2026

For now, Frog Sqwad is only launching on PC via Steam, but hopefully if all goes well, we may see console releases further down the line.

A playtest will be running over the weekend from 11 December, so if you want to give this game a whirl, sign up to that via its Steam listing.

Oh, and I’m sure the devs would appreciate a wishlist while you’re at it.

As a reminder, Day of the Devs is a non-profit organisation, dedicated to highlighting the very best in indie gaming.

All of those involved in putting on the showcase do so on a voluntary basis, relying on sponsors and donors, so please do consider supporting their efforts.
