Well, this is delightful. Disneyland has announced its first ever Pride Nite - a brand new event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.
Disney is certainly a company that strives for inclusivity - although that’s not to say that more can’t be done. In fact, several Disney releases have faced backlash in certain areas of the world for their inclusive themes in recent months. For example, Lightyear was banned in some territories for its same sex kiss. For the most part though, audiences are welcoming this much-needed on-screen diversity with open arms - and it’s lovely to see that this is now spilling over into Disney Parks, a place where many fans feel a sense of comfort and freedom. This June, Disneyland will host its first Pride Nite.
Ahsoka releases on Disney Plus this August.
This marks the first time that Disneyland Resort - located in Anaheim, California - has ever hosted a Pride Nite. Disneyland Paris, over in France, has been holding Disneyland Paris Pride for several years now, but it’s nice to see this trend spread worldwide. As reported by Yahoo, the Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite will take place on the 13 and 15 June 2023.

Over on the official Parks blog, the announcement read, “This after-hours event includes themed entertainment, Disney characters, one-of-a-kind photo opportunities, specialty menu items, event merchandise and more.” Sounds fun. The party will begin with a ‘three-hour pre-party mix’ at 6PM, before the main event kicks off at 9PM, ending at 1AM. Guests will be able to enjoy all their favourite Disney rides after dark too.
Which ride would you be heading to first? I do adore Big Thunder Mountain. The night’s entertainment includes the Pride Nite Cavalcade, Stitch’s Ohana Dance Party, the Pride Nite Dance Club, plus there are fun photo opportunities with characters. All in all, it sounds like a blast.
