Marvel just dropped a brand new trailer for an upcoming Wolverine series, and we finally have our confirmation that the next person to take over the Wolverine mantle won’t be James "Logan" Howlett.
As revealed on the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel, a new series titled “Ultimate Wolverine” is heading our way on January 15, 2025.
The trailer for the new Ultimate Wolverine series has implied that someone other than Logan is the one behind the claws however, who has been dubbed as the “Maker’s Ultimate Weapon”.
As many theorised prior to the trailer dropping, one shot in the trailer implies that Bucky “The Winter Soldier” Barnes will be the one donning the classic suit in this new interpretation.

Marvel also revealed some extra details regarding the upcoming comic in a press release on their official website.
“The action-packed trailer shows Wolverine is still the best there is as he’s deployed against mutantkind by his handlers, Magik, Colossus, and Omega Red,” stated the press release.
“But are they really in control of the Maker’s most lethal asset, or is the man behind the mask ready to strike out on his own?”
Author Chris Condon also noted that there are a few reveals we’ve yet to have spoiled in some of Ultimate Wolverine’s upcoming issues.
"Each issue we have planned pushes the ideas that we all have about Wolverine to their limits,” Condon stated, “which is everything that an 'ultimate' Wolverine should be."
You’ll have to wait until January to get your hands on the first issue, but don’t worry if you’re feeling impatient.
The brand new Ultimate Wolverine will also be popping up in issue #1 of Ultimate Universe: One Year In, which comes out on December 11 next month.
So, if Bucky is taking over the mantle of Wolverine… does that mean we might be seeing Logan take over the role of The Winter Solider down the line too?
