I know I’m definitely not the only one who was very reliant on Animal Crossing: New Horizons keeping me sane when the first lockdown hit us back in March 2020. It’s probably no exaggeration to say that it was the game of the pandemic, as dystopian as that sounds - it was a genuine rarity to find a single person who wasn’t busying themselves befriending virtual animals, decorating houses and planting fruit trees.

Two years on from then though, and despite the game’s various post-release content updates, most people have moved on from their island lives. There’s only so many times you can listen to Isabelle talking about her lost socks in the daily announcement before things begin to wear a little thin. However, if you were craving a new experience with the same relaxing vibes, a new title from Gameloft is promising what looks like the perfect life-sim, and it’s populated with fan-favourite Disney characters.

Check out the trailer for Disney Dreamlight Valley right here.

“Set in the dream world of Dreamlight Valley, players will embark on an enchanting quest to restore a once-idyllic village now desolate and full of night thorns,” Manea Castet, the game manager for Disney Dreamlight Valley wrote on the PlayStation blog. “Uncover the mysterious secrets that led you to this new world and explore diverse realms inspired by classic Disney and Pixar worlds, while helping the iconic inhabitants of the town recover their lost memories. During your quest to save Dreamlight Valley, you will meet and build friendships with beloved characters from Mickey & Friends to Disney’s Frozen, The Little Mermaid, and Moana to Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story, Wall-E and more.”

So, what sort of stuff can we expect to get up to? As well as the “expansive, engrossing, story-driven campaign”, the blog post detailing the game has promised cooking, fishing, and farming, as well as a load of customisation options for clothing and interior decor.

Disney Dreamlight Valley will be launching on PS4 and PS5 in 2023, but players who purchase a Founder’s Pack prior to the game’s launch will be able to give it a go in early access this summer, so be sure to get on that if you’re interested.
