The entire cosy genre features all kinds of games, but they’re mostly rooted in farming, making friends, and expanding villages.

If you’re into cosy games, and want similar vibes to Animal Crossing, outside of Nintendo consoles the choice is steadily growing.

One PlayStation player recently asked Reddit what they should be playing if they wanted something similar to Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley.

In the thread, they said, “I'm looking for a chill game to relax. What do you recommend?”

There were some mentions of Story of Seasons, as well as Rune Factory, however one game is coming to PlayStation very soon as a free-to-play release.

Palia, was recommended by TheSpiralTap, who mentioned the game is coming to PlayStation within the next week.

“The way I would describe it is as a more mature, MMO version of Animal Crossing. You're still building a home, farming, gathering resources to build improvements. The dialogue is not aimed at children, though. You do hunt and kill animals also,” they said in describing the game.

The original user who requested the recommendation queried the MMO aspects, and was reassured when they heard you don’t have to lean into being social if you’d rather go it alone.

“You don't have to be social at all. It's more fun if you are, though,” continued TheSpiralTap.

Palia has been a popular game on Nintendo Switch, and with its jump to PlayStation it becomes cross-platform, with the ability to play with friends on different systems.

It’s been available on Steam for quite a while, and currently has a ‘Very Positive’ rating, with players putting in hundreds of hours, and revelling in the world within the game.

If this is something you’re eyeing, it’s worth noting that Palia launches on PlayStation and Xbox on 13 may, so you can look forward to crafting, building, and making friends.
