Capcom has teased a return for some of its older franchises, with games like Devil May Cry, Dead Rising, and Dragon’s Dogma supposedly getting new entries.
Capcom released its annual financial results earlier this week, and 2025-26 has proven to be a pretty good year for the Japanese publisher.
The report notes that Capcom has “achieved 13 consecutive years of operating profit growth, 11 consecutive years of over 10% operating profit growth”, so it’s safe to say that the company has been on a roll lately.
It’s made clear that this has partly come down to the success of some of Capcom’s most recent releases, including Pragmata, Resident Evil Requiem, and Monster Hunter Wilds.

Another thing to note in particular (as spotted by PC Gamer) is that Capcom seems to be using this success to double down on “sequels, remakes, ports, etc.” of some of its past franchises that haven’t received a new entry in a while.
Capcom calls this “nurturing brands to be the next engine of growth,” listing the following games as examples of franchises that the company will be expanding next:
Of course, some of these franchises haven’t had a new entry in nearly a decade. While Dead Rising and Ace Attorney received remasters in 2024, the last main entry both received came out in 2016.
Similarly, prior to Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s release later this year, the last main entry the series enjoyed was released in 2006.

That leaves Okami, Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma, and Mega Man.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was released in 2024, which received positive reviews from critics and sold sold 4 million units by the end of the year.
Okami 2 was announced at The Game Awards 2024, with original director Hideki Kamiya directing the sequel at a new studio called Clovers following his departure from PlatinumGames.
Meanwhile, Mega Man’s last mainline entry was released in 2018, with the series receiving remasters and collections in the years since. A sequel, Mega Man: Dual Override, is confirmed to be releasing in 2027.
Finally, Devil May Cry seems to be the one to have received the least amount of love recently. Following its last main entry in 2019, it received a Special Edition for next-gen consoles in 2020.
A sequel hasn’t been confirmed, though the franchise has lived on in the form of a mobile spin-off, Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat, and a TV anime for Netflix.
While these aren’t necessarily new game announcements, seeing all these franchises listed together is encouraging for fans of them.
While it seems Monster Hunter and Resident Evil seem to be getting all of the love lately, here’s hoping that Capcom’s stated intention to do something with these franchises means we’re in for a solid lineup as we move into the next generation of video game hardware.
