DC's ‘Black Adam’ Gets Awesome First Trailer

We just got our first full trailer for DC's Black Adam, which is set to hit cinemas on 21 October.

DC’s upcoming superhero movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the titular antihero just got its very first trailer, and it’s looking pretty dang great.

Johnson himself also tweeted it out, sharing his hype for the movie: “This passion project has become my DNA and the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe will change,” he wrote. “The world needed a hero. It got BLACK ADAM.”

Enough from me, check out the new trailer right here.

Cool action scenes aside, it appears that this is the same trailer that first debuted at CinemaCon in April, which caused quite a stir at the time. As you can now see for yourself (but was simply described at the time and shared online), Hawkman approaches Black Adam in the trailer and says: “There are heroes and villains. Heroes don't kill people.” To this, Black Adam responds: “Well I do.”

At the time, fans were pretty confused - DC’s own Batman has definitely killed people before, and there’s never been any question over whether he’s a hero or not. Johnson then responded to the backlash on Twitter, assuring fans that the line will make sense once it’s seen in context: “Once you watch Black Adam you’ll understand the context of the line. It makes sense,” he wrote. “The mythology of Teth/Black Adam. Ruthless with zero regard.”

It definitely sounds like the antihero is going to shake up the DC Universe as we know it, anyway. As reported by ComicBook earlier this year, Johnson previously said: “In the traditional DC Universe, as we all know, if you do something wrong Superman and Batman are gonna try and bring you to justice. If you do something wrong to Black Adam, you're going to die. It's that simple. I believe this character is going to bring a unique edge to the superhero genre. We're gonna be turning preconceived notions on their ear.”

Black Adam is set to hit cinemas on 21 October this year - get those calendars marked.
