Love them or hate them, Disney is continuing with the trend of turning their beloved animated classics into new live-action blockbusters. Beauty & The Beast, Cinderella, Aladdin, and Dumbo have all received the live-action treatment - and there’s plenty more on the way. Snow White, Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid, and Hercules are all in the pipeline and Danny Devito has some choice words for Disney when it comes to Hercules.

The Russo brothers of Avengers: Endgame fame are currently working with Disney on a live-action reimagining of Hercules and Danny Devito wants in on the project. You may recall that in the original 1997 animated film, Devito portrayed Phil - Hercules’ friend and mentor.
During a recent interview with WIRED, Devito was asked if he’d like to play Phil in the live-action remake and it turns out, he doesn’t just want to play Phil - Devito thinks he should be the only actor in contention. Devito said, “I am the live-action Hercules. What are you talking about? If they don’t put me in that, they don’t have a hair on their ass.”

Strong words. Fans are in agreement though. Shokuwarrier wrote, “There is now literally no excuse for Disney not to have him back as Phil in the live action Hercules. He’s basically issued a come and get me call here,” whilst Peter Jones added, “I swear, this man looks and sounds like an animated character.” Perfect for playing live-action Phil then? We think so.
