Star Wars has 'perfect' new live-action Luke Skywalker, fans agree

He's certainly one of the best candidates

Star Wars fans are still hellbent on getting a certain Marvel star to play Luke Skywalker in a film or TV series, Disney made it happen already.

We’re of course talking about Sebastian Stan, widely known as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Bucky’s become an important character in the MCU, most recently leading The Thunderbolts in their debut film

On one of Disney’s other IPs though, Star Wars, it’s been said the actor would play an amazing Luke Skywalker, and I’m here for it.

Other fans are too though some are wondering if he’s getting a little too old to play the role, I disagree but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

“I love Sebastian Stan and the idea of him playing Skywalker sounds interesting. BUT… If Disney were to recast the original characters and have them in new adventures, shouldn't they be a bit younger so they can do multiple stories and series over the next decade or so?” pondered one Reddit user.

It’s a fair point to bring up, but it entirely depends on what story is being told and at what point in the Star Wars timeline it’s being set.

For example, I think having Sebastien Stan play Luke in something like The Mandalorian, set only a few years after Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi, would be a misstep as Luke is supposed to be much younger than Stan currently is.

However a film that follows a similar story to the Star Wars: Jedi Knight games where Luke is a few years into teaching his own academy would be the perfect setting for Stan to step into the role.

“36-45 year old Luke Skywalker. Who wouldn’t want to see that?” said one fan on the matter, with another adding “Bro, a 42 year old Hollywood action star is in peak physical form. He can handle a long day.”

I think it’s a great shout, and even if it’s just one or two films, it’s worth exploring rather than the deaging tech Disney has been relying on up to now.
