Sebastian Stan Says He Could Be Luke Skywalker One Day

The actor's resemblance to a young Skywalker has been amusing the internet for years now, and he isn't saying no to taking the role.

Sebastian Stan, best known for his role as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has in recent years also gained a bit of a reputation for being basically a perfect clone of a young Luke Skywalker. Even Mark Hamill himself has weighed in on it before, joking that Stan could easily be his son, and when you compare the two side by side, their similarities are striking.

Naturally then, people have been constantly been pushing for Stan to play a young Skywalker at some point in the future. With face swaps, edits, and fan art galore, it’s clear that the actor is quite aware just how much fans want to see him in the role, and no doubt the higher ups at Disney must have seen the demand by now, too.

Sebastian Stan starred in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which aired last year - check out the trailer below.

In a recent interview with Esquire, the question came up yet again regarding whether or not we could ever see our dreams become reality, and he’s certainly not saying no: “Look, it's really kind. Never say never. Mark Hamill is my father, you know, and he knows that, and I call him every Christmas to tell him, ‘just want you to know I'm around,’” he said.

This isn’t actually the first time that Stan has responded to the demand - in an interview on Good Morning America last March, held to promote The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, he was asked whether or not we could ever see it become a reality: “If Mark Hamill calls me personally to tell me that he feels inclined to share this role with me then I'll believe it,” he said.

Of course, Hamill was still able to return as a younger version of Skywalker in The Mandalorian, thanks to the power of technology, but there’s only so much that can be done without it looking totally unrealistic, so that's by no means a permanent solution. Clearly there are no official plans to bring Stan into the role just yet though, or at least any plans that can be shared at this time, so for now, we’ll just have to stick to the face swaps.
