Cyberpunk 2077's new survival horror mission is fully traumatising players

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty's new survival horror mission 'Somewhat Damaged' is fully traumatising players.

You may not think of Cyberpunk 2077 as being a horror game, and for good reason. It’s not. That being said, the new Phantom Liberty expansion does feature one uncharacteristically spooky mission and it’s left some players rocking back and forth in the foetal position.

Cyberpunk 2077 is truly thriving. Many are hailing Night City as one of their top favourite video game locations of all-time - and you can hardly blame them. Aesthetically, Cyberpunk 2077 is stunning. It’s not surprising that it looks set to overtake Starfield’s player count following the release of Phantom Liberty and the 2.0 update. Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t simply look good though. It’s packed with content. Players have already uncovered what appears to be a major plot tease setting up Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel. You may also have stumbled across the chilling ‘Somewhat Damaged’ mission.

Take a look at Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in action below.

As reported by GamesRadar, ‘Somewhat Damaged’ is reminding players of the terrifying Alien Isolation, quickly turning Cyberpunk 2077 into a full-on survival horror. Essentially, the mission tasks you with exploring an abandoned base while evading a spider robot. Oh, and you can’t have any weapons to fight back with. What makes it even spookier though is that you have no warning and understandably, it’s catching many players off guard.

Reddit user 6ixDank joked, “Didn’t realise I downloaded a f**king horror game.” User Sc4R3Cr0wW added, “This mission was really terrifying to me. I like playing games without any HUD so I had to rely on his footsteps sound and the glitchy effect when he gets too close, had to memorise the rooms cause I was terrified from walking in the main corridors, I stayed down there for two and a half hours with this mofo breathing down my neck. This mission really caught me off guard.”

“Chase me with zombies, monsters, aliens, hell even a lawn mower. No biggie. You start chasing me with a killing machine though? Straight up goosebumps and I’m full on crying in the foetal position. And I did,” write Hydrus-606 while opalsavanage1903 remarked, “It was how I learned I will never be able to play Alien Isolation.” To be quite honest, same.
