Netflix has shared a brief first look at its upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 series, as well as the first details on when we can expect to see more of the show in action.

While the news was kind of buried by Cyberpunk 2077 not being a very good game, the anime spinoff series was actually announced a little while ago - before the game even came out, in fact.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners follows the journey of a "street kid trying to survive in a tech and body mod-obsessed city of the future," according to the official synopsis. "With everything to lose, he chooses to become an Edgerunner, a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk."

Take a peek below:

We'll get our first proper look at Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in action during Netflix's Geeked Week 2022, which is set to take place from June 6-10.

It's certainly an exciting time to be a fan of Cyberpunk 2077. The game itself has come on leaps and bounds, with a huge new-gen update that has greatly improved literally every aspect of the experience.

In a video shared on the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit earlier this year, CDPR quest director Paweł Sasko also assured fans the team hasn't forgotten about the previously promised expansions,.

"I can assure you that we are working on an expansion, we're working [on] stuff for you guys besides that," Sasko explained. "That didn't change, we are still improving the game because we are all aware there is work to be done.

"We're very happy you guys liked [Patch 1.5], and that gives us more...incentive to work for you guys because you show your appreciation for it," Sasko said. "That's as much as I can tell you. We are working on stuff for you. Like I'm literally daily reviewing quests, talking to people about stuff, so it is happening."
