Cyberpunk 2077 sequel news has everyone saying the same thing

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel news has everyone saying the same thing

CD Projekt Red have announced a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and fans really don't want devs to rush the project.

We all knew that Cyberpunk 2077 was in its comeback period but still, yesterday’s news of a sequel was a major shock. Back in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 launched as a bug-ridden mess but this year’s major new-gen patch managed to convince fans that the game was finally worth giving a go.

Factor in the release of Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and CD Projekt Red’s once-failed title is now a jewel in their crown. In fact, the game’s concurrent player count recently surpassed The Witcher 3’s all-time peak. Celebrating this success, CDPR have now announced a sequel codenamed ‘Project Orion,’ but the news has fans all saying the same thing.

The Phantom Liberty DLC is also on the way. Check out the trailer below.

We don’t know much about ‘Project Orion’ other than it’ll “prove the full power” of the Cyberpunk universe but one thing’s for certain, fans want CDPR to take their time with the project. What fans don’t want is CDPR to rush development simply to bank on Cyberpunk 2077’s current success.

Twitter user GangsterEnieb wrote, “Honestly, if they take their time with this one, I think it will have a lot of potential with it obviously going to be current gen only, it won't be held back like the first one,” with UnsilencedChaos adding, “CDPR, you’ve learnt [from] your mistakes, fixed the base game [..] Let’s not hype it up as the RPG killer and instead work from the shadows and make a masterpiece.” Take a look at some more reactions below.

‘Project Orion’ will actually be developed by a new North American studio. In a press release, vice president and CFO of CD Projekt Piotr Nielubowicz said, “We’re setting up a new team in Boston, which, together with the expanding Vancouver team, will form our new studio - CD Projekt Red North America. As a result, we will be able to fully tap into the North American talent pool."
