The long-awaited new-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 could be getting a surprise release later today (February 15), according to mounting evidence.
While there's plenty to love about CD Projekt RED's 2020 sci-fi RPG (when it works) the fact remains that it's still a complete and total mess on base Xbox One and PS4 consoles. Fortunately, it looks like the free Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 Cyberpunk 2077 upgrades (which were promised nearly two years ago) are right around the corner at long last.
Yesterday, CDPR announced a special Cyberpunk 2077 livestream for today at 3pm (UK time). While the developer has yet to confirm exactly what will be revealed in the stream, it's widely expected that we'll finally be getting an update on the new-gen upgrades (and hopefully some DLC).

But while the expectation was that we'd get a release date and trailer for the new-gen Cyberpunk 2077, a handful of leaks and datamines suggest that CDPR intends to go one further and make the upgrade available straight after the livestream.
Multiple Xbox users have reported seeing the "Optimized for Xbox Series X/S" logo on Cyberpunk 2077 in the Xbox store, which heavily implies that the update is ready to go. Further datamines appear to have corroborated these findings, as you can see below.
Nothing in the way of a PlayStation 5 upgrade has leaked as of yet, but we have to assume that CDPR would want to drop the new-gen Xbox and PlayStation versions at the same time.

Do take all this with a pinch of salt for now, of course. While it does look incredibly likely that the update could arrive very soon, it might not be today. We'll find out for sure in just a few hours.
