There is no better feeling than getting a game for free, especially when the freebie comes out of nowhere.
Well, that was definitely the case for one Reddit user after they took to r/cyberpunkgame to reveal that they had somehow received Phantom Liberty for absolutely free.
Released back in 2023, Phantom Liberty is the first and only DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 and is widely regarded as one of the best DLCs of all time.

In his review, our very own Ewan Moore said it was “maybe the best expansion I’ve ever played” and gave it an impressive 9/10.
“I really can’t say enough good things about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty,” his review read.
“It fills me with joy to be able to report that this is a deeply ambitious expansion that fires on all cylinders and never delivers anything less than a stellar experience. CD Projekt RED is walking away from Cyberpunk 2077 in the best possible way, delivering on the game’s immense potential and dropping one final, unforgettable adventure.”
As a result, it was not surprising that everybody and their nan wanted to get their hands on it.

Well, for user _TungstenGuy707_ over on Reddit, their wish came true as they somehow gained access to Phantom Liberty for completely free.
“So I have Cyberpunk 2077, I bought it digitally like two years ago,” they explained.
“Decided to jump on today to play and the Phantom Liberty ad at the bottom said 'click to download'. I don’t own it and haven't bought it, no one has my PS5 as primary, and it's currently downloading? Did they do a free handout of the DLC? If not, does anyone know what happened?”
Well, it seems as though nobody knows what happened but after downloading it, _TungstenGuy707_ did indeed gain full access to the DLC with no catch.

“So it downloaded fully and surprisingly, actually works,” an update read.
“Had my doubts, but yup, full DLC all for free. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket.”
So it seems as though it would be worth checking for yourself if Phantom Liberty will download for free if you have not previously bought it. Who knows? Maybe CDPR is feeling pretty charitable lately.
