Cyberpunk 2077 player works out Night City's murder rate, and my god

The rent's probably cheap though...

Living in Night City is arguably a fate worse than death based on its crime statistics, you’d be better off living somewhere else instead.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a neon playground of crime, so it’s great if you’re a player and enjoy causing havoc but less so if you’re one of the game’s NPCs.

Check out Cyberpunk 2077 below

To put into words just how bad it actually is to live in Night City if it were real, one player did the math and determined the likelihood of getting shot or worse throughout your virtual life.

Reddit user MdeThis4MyBalls collected their findings in a thread, saying out of the 7,000,000 people living in Night City about “15,000 people die of shootings in any given year.” meaning there’s a 0.214% chance you won’t survive to see 2078.

They went on to explain non-fatal shootings, saying “60,000 people” get shot in Night City per year but survive the encounter.

If you live to see 75 that puts your expectancy of being shot at least once at 47.97%, with your chances of dying going up to “14.82%. 1 in 7 … Just walking down the street is enough to chance it.”

The fan closed off their remarks with a very simple summary, “Night City is hell,” we can see why.

So it’s definitely not somewhere you’d choose to live in, unless you’re one of the Corpos who has a lot of money, a safe and secure house as well as access to medical care and airborne transportation.

I suppose Nomads are fairly safe too given how they live outside the city, but still the dangers are still there.

So next time you tear your way through Night City on another Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough, spare a thought to the lives you’re ending along the way.
