If you've played Cyberpunk 2077, you'll probably know that the police of Night City are quite literally useless.

A combination of rubbish AI and poor planning on the part of developer CD Projekt RED resulted in Cyberpunk 2077's law enforcement ending up a bunch of janky ghosts with about as much impact on the game's open world as a wet fart.

Night City police will very rarely respond to your crimes in an appropriate manner. And when they do, they don't actually chase the player properly. They just appear out of thin air like a small army of Slendermen with guns. It's rubbish.

Cyberpunk 2077's quest director Pawel Sasko previously shared a bizarre and ludicrous explanation for why the game didn't have proper police chases. It didn't go down well.

But while CDPR might not have any intention of breathing life into the Night City police any time soon, the fans want to make it happen. That's why a team of modders has been working to include car chases and vehicular combat as a new feature, and it's shaping up beautifully.

Scissors’ Vehicle Combat (via PCGamesN) introduces high-speed car chases with both the police and the various local gangs of Night City. The behaviour of the police has been overhauled so that they actually give a shit when you break laws, and NPCs can call for help or backup based on how much of a nuisance you're being.

The modder explains that there was actually some code in Cyberpunk 2077 that suggests CDPR had originally intended for some form of vehicular combat before disabling the feature. Scissor's Vehicle Combat restores this ability, allowing you to fire off weapons as you drive away from your enemies. They've even added in a GTA-style Wanted system, which is a neat touch.
