What’s that, more Cyberpunk 2077 news? Don’t worry, you’ve not fallen into a weird time portal back to December 2020 - you don’t need to live through all that again.
But no, the reason that the notoriously broken, unfinished RPG is making a comeback is all thanks to the 1.5 patch, which was announced and released yesterday (for PS5 and Xbox Series X, at least), alongside some free DLC. Between the patch and DLC, a whole load of changes and improvements have been added - which is undoubtedly going to influence some players to give the game a second chance.
Ready for a throwback? Check out the teaser trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, which was first shown off almost nine years ago at E3 2013.
If you were planning on rushing out to buy it, driven by some intense fear of missing out, you might want to hang fire. Well, if you’re an Xbox user, anyway. It seems there’s actually a chance that the game will be making its way over to Game Pass sometime soon, meaning subscribers will be able to experience it in all its glory (?) without spending an extra penny.

These rumours started over on Reddit, where one user shared a screenshot of the game on the Microsoft Store (albeit in a different language). There, beneath the title, it reads “Game Pass Ultimate”, suggesting that the game will be available to those who are paying for the priciest version of Xbox’s subscription service.
Don’t get too excited though - this speculation began circulating before CD Projekt Red’s livestream yesterday where everything else was announced, including the fact that Xbox users can play a free five-hour trial right now, and transfer their progress to the full game. So, with that in mind, there’s a chance that this could have been either some sort of translation error, or just a mistake on Microsoft’s part.
That said, that very trial is one way you can certainly play the game for free. According to HowLongToBeat, the main story of Cyberpunk 2077 takes around 22 and a half hours to complete, so while you’d think five hours isn’t going to quite cut it, there’s another way. The current record to speedrun the game without glitches is actually under three and a half hours, so if you want to get really good at speedrunning, really fast, you could technically use the trial to finish it. Consider it a challenge, eh? Good luck.
