Cyberpunk 2077 player unearths unexplained mystery that could surface in sequel

Could we see more in the sequel?

A Cyberpunk 2077 player has unearthed a mystery that has puzzled some fans of the RPG, but could we see more of this mysterious location in the sequel?

Despite its very rocky launch, CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best sci-fi RPGs of this generation, at least since the free new-gen update arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Night City is one of the most vibrant and gorgeous locations in gaming, heavily inspired by Ridley Scott’s cult classic movie, Blade Runner. Hidden within its neon-lit concrete jungle is a seedy underworld that would tempt even the most pure-hearted into a life of corruption.

From top to bottom, Night City is packed full of missions, interesting NPCs and secrets still waiting to be discovered. With that in mind, eagle-eyed gamers have noticed a ship, far out into the distance, which has posed many questions from the community.

The ship in question is an aircraft carrier called the Kujira, and it’s said that CD Projekt RED intended for it to feature in the game. After all, it did get its own official concept art from the studio.

Technically, Kujira is still in Cyberpunk 2077, but as an out-of-bounds asset and can be seen at a far distance in the sea. That’s unless you use glitchy shenanigans to get a close inspection, only to find it as a low-poly monstrosity.

“Why is this the first time I've seen this big mf, and why didn't we have a mission at sea?” asked Reddit user Lower_Factor9320.

“Probably because most of the sea can't be accessed due to the corp war,” replied TesPhoenix, providing a story-inspired theory.

“Dude, it's the first time I've seen it too. That is dope,” exclaimed atom138.

“We really should've had a mission involving the Kujira. It would've been really cool,” said Zestyclose-Care7418.

Hopefully, we’ll get to visit the Kujira in the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, whenever that time might be.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2.
