Cyberpunk 2077: Blackout is a hit with fans

Cyberpunk 2077: Blackout is a hit with fans

Cyberpunk 2077: Blackout has more tales to tell of Night City.

The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is one that is ever-expanding and fans are always looking at new ways to experience the many stories that Night City has to tell.

Cyberpunk 2077 is inspired by the tabletop game from Mike Pondsmith which was released all the way back in 1998. Then in 2012, Cyberpunk 2077 was announced to be in development before being treated to a glorious trailer years later at E3 2018.

When Cyberpunk 2077 was finally released, by now we’re all aware of its launch woes that were so bad, Sony had pulled it from the PlayStation Store. Thankfully, when Cyberpunk 2077 made its triumphant return and following a series of massive updates and content support, it eventually became the sci-fi RPG that we envisioned it to be. Well, at least for the most part.

Still, regardless of its initial woes, CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 continues to be a popular franchise as it ventures into the world of tabletop gaming (again), a critically acclaimed Netflix anime as well as novels expanding upon its rich lore. The latter of which is today’s topic of discussion.

That being said, today’s topic is the four-part graphic novel, in particular, it's first issue, Cyberpunk 2077: Blackout which was released earlier this year.

“In a city that operates on technology, a power outage brings catastrophe, but in darkness comes opportunity. It hurts. Night City hurts. The suffering runs deep and the deeper one falls, the longer the self-prescribed dreams play. Fortune, hope, love - all made possible by DMS technology,” reads the Blackout synopsis.

“A braindance repairman's daily encounters with his clients reveal the deterioration of the human mind and the desperation driving those to surrender to illusion. But not everyone desires a happy ending. Riddled with doubt, self-hatred, and guilt, he soon discovers the answer to pain... comes in a blackout.”

At the time of writing, each issue of this Cyberpunk 2077 graphic novel series has an RRP of £13.99 and it’s proving to be a hit with fans, as indicated by the Amazon customer reviews with its first issue garnering a 4.5-star rating.

“A really enjoyable story. The tone was perfect for Cyberpunk 2077, revealing new aspects of the world while staying loyal to the source material,” said Richard (not me). “Fits well in the universe and the game. I have found that almost any comic or graphic novel from Dark Horse is a good buy,” exclaimed m.bloomfield.

In related news, the highly anticipated expansion, Phantom Liberty which stars the charismatic actor Idris Elba releases next month for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
