Crimson Desert has been one of 2026’s biggest games so far and it’ll no doubt be part of the conversation when this year’s Game Awards roll around.
Interestingly only around 20% of players have actually made it past the halfway mark in the game’s story. Probably because it takes around 60 hours to finish said story and that’s not taking into account side-quests and exploration.
Despite this many players are already hoping for more Crimson Desert content, which is exactly what they’re getting later this month but for a different game…
How do we know when a game has truly made it? Is passing a total number of sales? 10/10 reviews across the board? Or perhaps when we’re all still talking about it months after its launch?
The answer is none of those things. The real measure of success for a game nowadays is whether it gets a Fortnite collaboration, and by the end of the month Crimson Desert will have had two.

When Crimson Desert launched its protagonist Kliff was given a Fortnite skin to mark the occasion, which you could either purchase from the Item Shop with V-Bucks or claim for free if you bought the game through the Epic Games Store.
Months later a second wave of Crimson Desert content is hitting the infamous battle-royale, though this time it’s a little less exciting.
On 26 May some new Crimson Desert cosmetics will be added to the game to use with Kliff’s skin. These include; a Backbling, a Pickaxe, an Emoticon and a Spray.
Place your bets now as to what these might be, but the safe bet is a sword as the pickaxe and maybe the Vision Helmet as a backbling.
You’ll likely be able to purchase these new additions separately but there’ll probably be a bundle of some kind too, perhaps one including Kliff’s skin for those who are yet to buy him.
Admittedly it’s a disappointing collaboration. These items should have really been included when the skin first dropped rather than added in later, and it’s a far cry from the actual Crimson Desert DLC announcement fans will have been hoping for.
Nevertheless it’s still somewhat cool to see the game be recognised by Fortnite, and see Kliff standing alongside other fictional characters like Master Chief, Goku, Chun-Li and Batman just to name a few.
Pearl Abyss is yet to confirm whether a DLC expansion is in the works for the game but given its success it feels like a no-brainer to give fans a little bit more.
However the studio is now speeding up development on its next game, DokeV, which is a Pokemon-like game that was shown off at Gamescom in 2021.
