In a world as hectic as ours, nothing quite beats escaping into a self-made land and losing yourself to the crackle of the fire, the melancholy of a background lute, and the tranquility of your own destiny.
It's a recipe that has born Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing (minus the evil Tom Nook), and even Minecraft to an extent, but has left a hole as we wait for the next successor.
But that wait is over, as one of the coziest pixelated world-building adventure titles is coming free to Steam for free.
A blend of the old-school Pokémon visuals and the village-oriented gameplay of Stardew, Suncraft is destined to be your next breakaway destination.
For those familiar with cozy building games like Stardew Valley and Forager, Suncraft is everything you need to switch off and relax, with progressive crafting mechanics that will take you from a rusty shed to a thriving beachfront village.

Familiar features like material gathering, building workstations, and equipment upgrades are all present, as players landing at Suncraft will also meet quirky characters full of personality.
But it's not just build, build, build, as the seven characters on the island - including one final protagonist shrouded in mystery - will launch quests and adventures for you to explore the area and unlock more cute rewards.
And, it's all free.

Launched on Steam on April 30, Suncraft has launched in a Demo state after six weeks of successful playtests, and players will keep all of their progress when the full game releases at a later date.
So far, every review of the game has only stoked positive vibes into Suncraft's crackling stoves, as it scratches that grinding itch and refuses to become boring.
After a few days of the demo, players have been heaping praise on Suncraft with 17 positive reviews and zero negative.
Crediting the peaceful nature of the village and a crafting loop that stays entertaining, players are having a hard time putting it down.
"The automation-and-upgrade satisfaction of one, the warm village pixel-art comfort of the other. Didn't know I needed both at once until I played this," one player said.
"If you want something to play in 30-minute evening sessions with a cup of tea, this is exactly that."
Another added, "The pixel art is bright and cozy, the characters have a lot of personality, and the whole gather/craft/upgrade loop feels super relaxing without being boring.
"I liked that it gives you that 'just one more thing' feeling while still staying chill."
But, if we've not sold you on Suncraft, there's always a new, twisted, darker, Steam game that combines Stardew Valley and The Last of Us that might be more your pace.
