Bully Unreal Engine 5 remake is a thing of beauty

Do it Rockstar, you cowards

Oh gosh, how I wish this was an official remake. Bully is often held in high regard by players, whether they're dedicated Rockstar Games fans or not. There was something special about the game, particularly in Britain, where the game was set.

Many fans have, for years now, been asking for a remake of Bully. Also known as Canis Canem Edit, meaning Dog Eats Dog, Bully is a highlight in the Rockstar Games catalogue and a fan has taken things into their own hands to show off what the game would look like if it were remade in Unreal Engine 5.

Originally released in 2006, Bully brought the GTA formula to the school system

I have a huge soft spot for this game. Having played it upon release it was great to see Rockstar Games stretch themselves in a new direction. While the game's content hasn't aged, it certainly doesn't look its best in 2023. One fan though has decided to remake many of the moments from the game in Unreal Engine 5, which you can watch on YouTube. And it looks amazing.

Obviously, you need to keep in mind this has nothing to do with the original developer, it's purely a concept trailer, but it will have you yearning for something official. The character models are wonderfully recreated, the lighting glows and produces gorgeous effects throughout, and the small moments of action carry a new heft and weight, making them feel more grounded.

The creator, TeaserPlay, have managed to pull off some great animations from the close up dialogue-driven moments to more scenic views that genuinely look astonishingly good for a small project. There's a hope that projects like this make it to Rockstar and they decide to pursue a remake of their own or, we can hope, a sequel.
