Jurassic World Dominion may have been the worst-rated film in the Jurassic franchise but it still raked in a ton of money. In fact, it earnt a hefty $974.5 million at the box office. Not bad for the ‘worst’ film in the franchise. As such, you’d expect the cast to be paid handsomely and whilst I’m sure that was the case, Bryce Dallas Howard’s paycheck was “so much less” than co-star Chris Pratt’s.

It’s no secret that Hollywood has a gender pay gap problem - well, it’s an issue that extends outside of Hollywood. Over the past couple years, actresses have spoken out about how their pay drastically differs from that of their male co stars and Bryce Dallas Howard is the latest actress to join that list.

Speaking to Insider, Howard said, “I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less. When I started negotiating for [Jurassic World], it was 2014 and it was a different world and I was at a great disadvantage - and unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies and so your deals are set.”

As reported by IGN, Howard was reportedly paid $2 million less than Pratt for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, taking home $8 million, but it seems like that figure could actually be a fair bit smaller. Obviously, these are extreme examples. Pratt did reportedly campaign for Howard’s pay to be raised. Howard added, “What I will say is that Chris and I have discussed it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn’t been already negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me, ‘You guys don’t even have to do anything. I’m gonna do all the negotiating. We’re gonna be paid the same and you don’t have to think about this, Bryce.’”

She continued, “I love him so much for doing that. I really do, because I’ve been paid more for those kinds of things than I ever was for the movie.” It’s nice to know the tide is turning on these issues.
