The Legend of Zelda movie cast: All confirmed actors and characters so far
The full cast for The Legend of Zelda live-action movie has yet been confirmed, but we do have an idea of the actors who are set to appear in Nintendo's 2027 movie.
Slated for release by Sony Pictures next year, The Legend of Zelda will be an original story set in the Zelda universe with a heavy focus on CGI and motion capture.
It’s being directed by Wes Ball, whose previous work as a director includes The Maze Runner trilogy, as well as 2024’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. He has also written and directed several short films.
Although we don’t have a full announced list of characters just yet, the actors set to appear in The Legend of Zelda will likely be a mix of live-action and motion-capture animated characters.

Here’s all we know about the confirmed Zelda cast so far, and who we would like to play the characters who haven’t been announced yet.

Who's in the Zelda movie cast?
The Legend of Zelda live-action movie currently has seven cast members confirmed so far.
Benjamin Ainsworth as Link
The Yorkshire-based actor Benjamin Ainsworth was announced to be playing Link in the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie last July.
Ainsworth’s first major acting role was as the eccentric Miles Wingrave in Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor. Since then, he appeared as the voice of Pinocchio in the Disney live-action remake of the same name, and as Daeron Targaryen in House of the Dragon on HBO.
Born in 2008, Ainsworth is the right age to play Link, who usually appears as either a child or an older teenager in most of the games in the series. In fact, the character has never been depicted as older than 17 years old, making Ainsworth’s casting spot on.
Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda
Bo Bragason was also announced alongside Ainsworth’s casting last July, where it was revealed that she would be playing Princess Zelda.
Having already done motion capture work for Young Luna in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Bragason has already worked on a video game adaptation project prior to joining The Legend of Zelda. She has also featured in the psychological horror film Censor, as well as Renegade Nell on Disney Plus.
Similar to Ainsworth, Bragason is also the appropriate age to play Zelda. The images released so far imply that her role will be just as adventurous as Link’s, so we also shouldn’t expect Zelda to be locked away in a castle for most of the film.
Dichen Lachman as Impa
Leaked set photos from last year have revealed that Nepali-Australian actress Dichen Lachman will be appearing in the film, with confirmation that she'll be playing Impa coming earlier this week.
Impa is a character that has appeared in several forms over the years, who act as servants and guidance for Link and members of the Royal Family of Hyrule. She’s typically depicted as an elderly woman in many of the games, but has also appeared much younger in other games.
Lachman’s casting implies that Impa’s role in the movie will be closer to how she’s depicted in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, being a much younger and highly disciplined warrior aiding Zelda and Link on their journeys.
Uli Latukefu as Ganondorf
Australian actor Uli Latukefu has been cast as Ganondorf, the lead villain in The Legend of Zelda games who has appeared in almost every entry.
Latukefu is known for his roles as Dwayne Johnson in the NBC sitcom Young Rock, as well as appearing in films such as Alien: Covenant and Black Adam.
For his role as Ganondorf, he's likely going to be in heavy makeup and prosthetic to make him look like the imposing Gerudo descendant, though images have not been released yet.
Sam Neill
New Zealand actor Sam Neill is confirmed to have filmed scenes for The Legend of Zelda before his death in July 2026.
The celebrated Irish-born Kiwi actor played roles in blockbuster films such as Jurassic Park, The Hunt for Red October, and Event Horizon. In recent years, he was known for his roles as Major Campbell in Peaky Blinders and Uncle Hec in Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
It's not confirmed yet who he'll be playing in The Legend of Zelda, but theories may point to him possibly playing the King of Hyrule.
Yvonne Strahovski
Yvonne Strahovski has appeared in television shows such as Chuck and Dexter, while in films she's appeared in blockbusters like The Predator and The Tomorrow War on Amazon Prime Video.
In video games, she's also starred in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 as Miranda Lawson, a companion and possible love interest of Commander Shepard, as well as playing Aya in the English dub of The 3rd Birthday.
Strahovski's role in The Legend of Zelda has not been confirmed yet, and it's really a mystery who she could be playing as there aren't any major characters left who she resembles. However, given her similar features to Bo Bragason, it's entirely possible we might be seeing her play Zelda's mother, who is rarely seen in the games.
Lydia Peckham
New Zealand actress Lydia Peckham has also been confirmed for a role in The Legend of Zelda.
Peckham previously worked with Wes Ball playing the CGI ape Soona in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. She's also played roles in Cowboy Bebop, Nuremberg, and The Wrecking Crew.
Similar to a few other fellow cast members, Peckham's exact role in the film is currently unknown.
