Zelda Ocarina of Time remake challenges GTA 6 with potential launch day leak

Judging by some upcoming amiibo release dates, we might know when Nintendo intends to release The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.

During a Nintendo Direct event on June 9, 2026, the highly anticipated and heavily rumoured remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was made official. We might not have seen any direct gameplay, but the cinematic of Link being woken by Navi was more than enough to get fans excited all over the world.

However, Nintendo did not announce a specific release date, except that it will launch at some point this year. That being said, judging by some upcoming amiibo releases and perhaps the release date of the original N64 title, there’s a pretty solid chance that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake could arrive this coming November.

Nintendo seemingly leaks amiibo release dates

“Ocarina of Time remake possibly releasing November 11 based on amiibo,” claimed Reddit user gaysaucemage. “I still think OoT likely releases on the same date as the amiibo.”

In a nutshell, gaysaucemage mentions that Kirby amiibo’s briefly appeared on the Nintendo Store UK website with release dates of November 11 (or 12, depending on your region), before they were swiftly removed. This suggests that Nintendo accidentally leaked the release dates of said amiibos.

Of course, it’s worth considering that at the time of writing, no amiibos for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake have been announced, but we all know that Nintendo will not miss that opportunity. What’s more, by now, we’d assume that if the remake was going to be released between August and October, the release date would have been announced by now.

Then you consider, other than GTA VI, November 2026 is looking to be a very quiet month for major AAA video game releases. This, in itself, would be a great time to release the remake. Plus, judging by previous habits, Nintendo likes to release amiibos from multiple franchises at the same time.

So, given that Nintendo is running out of time to announce the release date, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that we could see Kirby Air Riders and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake amiibos all release in the same month. In the unlikely event that Nintendo delays the remake into 2027, the other most likely release month could be December. Only time will tell.

It’s perhaps also worth noting that the original The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released on the Nintendo 64 in November 1998.

Generations may not have played Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The original Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64 is not only considered by many to be the best game in The Legend of Zelda series, but it’s also regarded as one of the best video games of all time, as reflected by its near-perfect 99 score on the aggregate website, Metacritic.

Given that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released nearly 28 years ago in 1998, there will be a whole generation that may not have played this beloved classic. Saying that, it did get a remake/remaster hybrid on the Nintendo 3DS in 2011, and the N64 version is included in NSO, but nothing beats the magic of experiencing a game like this on its original launch.
