Following the fatal shooting of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk last week, one Hollywood star has spoken out against the event in an interview with Variety.

On 10 September, right-wing political activist and media personality Charlie Kirk was shot and killed following an event at Utah Valley University.

Due to his extreme and controversial views, Kirk’s death has raised controversy across the world with Donald Trump, a hero of Kirk’s, announcing that the 31-year old would posthumously receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Since Kirk’s death, many big names across the U.S have shared their thoughts on the killing and with the suspected killer now in custody, political tensions are higher than ever.

In recent days, Batman legend Michael Keaton has shared his thoughts on the fatal shooting when asked about it in an interview by Variety.

Paying respects to Kirk at Investigative Reporters and Editors’ 50th anniversary gala on Monday night, Keaton spoke about the act of gun violence in the killing.

“Before we start to get into the meat of this thing, I’m going to take a minute to say that, regardless of how I probably — not probably — have disagreed with many things he said, Charlie Kirk leaves behind two kids and a wife,” Keaton shared. “You gotta remember that.”

Keaton, who is perhaps best known for playing the titular hero in both 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns believes that “shooting people will never answer anything, and the irony that he was killed with a gun is unbelievable."

This would probably refer to some of Kirk’s most controversial takes with one being his support of the second amendment with the right-wing political activist previously stating that gun deaths are “worth it” to protect “our rights.”

“It’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment,” he previously shared.

Keaton was not the only famous face to share their thoughts on Kirk’s death at this recent event but there is no doubt that there is some irony in Batman’s actor making such a statement about gun crime.

However, it seems as though his comments have not been received well by fans who took to Variety’s Twitter account to share their thoughts.

“Hard to mourn someone who fueled hate and defended atrocities. His legacy is stained by the suffering he chose to support,” one user commented.

“Keaton and those like him = garbage,” another user added.

For user SilverFoxLife, comments like this are what is having a dramatic effect on Hollywood these days.

“This right here is why so many people checked out of watching anything Hollywood creates,” they shared.

There is no doubt that as time goes on, more A-list stars will speak out about the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk, whether or not we want to hear it.
