Free stuff for a great game

We make a habit of grabbing any and all free in-game goodies when they become available for the titles that we love best.

Whether it be shiny new cosmetics or additional story content, it's very difficult to think of a good reason to turn that stuff down when it's coming at no cost to us as the player.

With that in mind, 2K and Gearbox Software have just released a brand new free download for Borderlands 4, with more supposedly on the way very soon.

As confirmed in a joint press release from the two companies, Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day is out now, and available for players to download for free right now.

That is actually a change of plan from the usual pricing systems for Borderlands 4, with 2K and Gearbox electing to give it to players for free after they weren't able to include everything they wanted in time for the holiday season.

In explaining the decision, they shared the following, "Players can now team up with Rush, the affable leader of the Outbounders, to take down the miserly Minister Screw and bring festive cheer to the people of Kairos. As a holiday-themed Bounty Pack, it was important that players receive it by the end of the year."

"However, with the continued efforts to improve the Borderlands 4 experience, the team ran out of time to stuff as much mayhem-fueled content into the Bounty Pack 1 stocking as originally planned," it reads.

"So in the spirit of the season, and as a thank you to the community for their passion and support, 2K and Gearbox are excited to provide Bounty Pack 1, launching at 5:00 PM GMT, to all Borderlands 4 players for free!* 2K and Gearbox are hard at work on future Bounty Packs that will be bigger and fully loaded with the compelling content players have been asking for. Stay tuned!"

That last part is obviously the most exciting part of the statement for us Borderlands fans, with more content on the way that has been heavily influenced by community requests.

The game itself has also been improved over the last few months, with the developer ironing out many of the performance issues that hit day one players at launch and introducing highly requested quality-of-life features to improve the gameplay experience.
