The world’s biggest looter shooter is back with another entry as Borderlands 4 was finally released just last week.
As the fifth mainline entry in Gearbox Software’s Borderlands franchise, Borderlands 4 has been highly anticipated by fans all over the world and now that it is here, there are a few teething problems to say the least.
With reports of poor optimisation and performance issues, Gearbox’s own CEO Randy Pitchford has come under fire for suggesting those suffering should just “play a different game”.
On top of that, some players are speeding through the game thanks to game-breaking builds which sees Vault Hunters such as Vex reach unprecedented levels of damage.

Whether or not this is a feature or a bug is unknown but it is just another reason why some players are unhappy with the current state of Borderlands 4.
However, it is not all doom and gloom as Gearbox is satiating fans by announcing some free downloads which can be redeemed right now.
To celebrate Borderlands 4 players looting 764,733,586 items (expected to now be way more at the time of writing), a Shift code has now been made available.
Shift codes, which have been a series formula for quite some time, is back with Borderlands 4 and players simply have to sign up for an account and then enter various codes to redeem fun and useful items.

This time, the code JS63J-JSCWJ-CFTBW-3TJ3J-WJS5R will reward players with the Break Free Pack.
It includes a vault hunter skin, a legendary ripper shield that scales to your level, and two new skins for your trusty ECHO-4.
Alongside news of this brand-new pack, Gearbox also shared some interesting stats on player’s achievements in Borderlands 4 so far.
- Items looted from Outhouses–1,530,794
- Items looted from a grill, beer cooler, or boombox–1,811,970
- Items looted from Trash Cans–487,585
- Items looted from Red Chests–14,814,296
If you are anything like me, then you will be opening every green-lit chest in sight and so these stats hardly come as a surprise.

However, it is good that Gearbox is spending more time rewarding players and less time telling them to go and play a different game if they are struggling with performance issues.
This is also not the only Shift code to be circulating so if you are on the search for some more freebies, make sure you stay up to date with the ones floating around on social media as well as the occasional Twitch drop.
