Borderlands 4 players can grab a seemingly never-ending supply of freebies at the moment with SHiFT codes, many of which are only available for a limited-time.
From what I’ve seen the reactions to Borderlands 4 have been pretty mixed so far, with many claiming that it’s just more Borderlands, for better or worse, and others arguing it reinvented the series with fresh new gameplay mechanics.
The biggest fiasco surrounding the games launch was the price, with CEO of The Gearbox Entertainment Company Randy Pitchford arguing the game could have been priced at $100 before its launch. Following poor reviews the CEO then received some flack for telling players to simply get a refund.
Questionable marketing moves aside though the game seems fine and players who are still vault-hunting can take advantage of constant SHiFT to enhance their gameplay experience.

To put it simply, SHiFT codes are exclusive to the Borderlands series and have been around since Borderlands 2. They can only be redeemed on an official Borderlands website and will net you a variety of goodies depending on which ones you have.
While some are sticking around permanently so every player can use them, many are only active for a limited-time, so the community is constantly sharing new ones so as many players as possible can reap the rewards.
You can find updated lists online for all currently active codes and keep an eye on them for new ones dropping, and some of the official Borderlands social media accounts have been sharing them too. You can also find six of the codes on X via the Free Steam Games account.
While you’ll need to ultimately redeem the code to see what you’ll get, the rewards can include Golden Keys which will unlock in-game treasure chests packed with goodies, or sometimes they’ll unlock rare loot and cosmetics for your character.

You can of course ignore all of them and just play the game normally, but given how easy it is to fin these codes and redeem them online, you might as well grab a few of them while they’re still being offered.
The only downside to all of this is the amount of sites and accounts posting the same codes due to their limited-time availability. It means you’ll likely be putting in codes you’ve already redeemed unless you’re a wizard who can remember every digit of the last code you typed in.
