If you are anything like me then you will still be eagerly anticipating BioShock 4 despite sometimes feeling like it will just never be released.

First announced back in 2019, the next instalment in the BioShock series has oftentimes felt like a pipe dream with little to no information surrounding it since.

Check out the trailer for BioShock: The Collection below!

However, according to a recent update by 2K Cloud Chamber, development on BioShock 4 is “ramping up” with 30 new positions at the studio.

Not only that but BioShock 4 is set to be the first entry in the series not made by Irrational Games which has since rebranded as Ghost Story Games and is currently hard at work on the BioShock-esque FPS, Judas.

Now headed by 2K Cloud Chamber, which luckily consists of BioShock veterans, BioShock 4 has still not received an official title, date or premise and what we do know consists of various rumours over the years.

However, all is not lost as a Tweet back in March from the official 2K Twitter account reveals that the team is still “cooking” up the fourth entry.

In reply to a Tweet asking “Is a new BioShock game still in the works?” 2K simply replied with an emoji of a chef and a spoon which we can assume means it is currently cooking/in the works.

Although things have been pretty quiet since then, in more recent months we have had our first glimpse at a screenshot from Bioshock 4.

It showed the UI, possible plasmids, a new weapon and a mysterious structure taking over the screen.

Other than that, 2K Cloud Chamber senior cinematic designer Jeff Spoonhower took to LinkedIn to post a series of job roles for BioShock 4.

Alongside the positions, he wrote: "The BioShock team at 2K Cloud Chamber is ramping up! We have many positions open across a variety of disciplines including art, animation, engineering, design, narrative, and production."

With Spoonhower having worked on both BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite, he has quite a bit of experience under his belt which leaves us feeling optimistic.

It remains to be seen when we will hear more official news about BioShock 4 but I am eagerly waiting. Just don’t take too much longer!
